I am a Full Professor and Chair of Mathematical Sciences at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. Since 1985 I am a member of the Institute of Computer Science at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science. In 2009 I became the successor of Professor Zdzislaw Denkowski on the Chair of Optimization and Control at JUK. In 2014-2017 I have enjoyed an appointment to Visiting Professor at Institute of Mathematics, Lodz University of Technology.
My research interests cover differential equations, nonlinear functional analysis, methods and techniques of nonlinear analysis, calculus of variations, control theory, identification, homogenization, mathematical modeling of physical systems, applications of PDEs to problems of mechanics. The International Conference on "Emerging Trends in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics 2018" will be held on June 18-22, 2018 in Krakow. Organised by the Chair of Optimization and Control at JUK, the most active research group at the Faculty, the conference provides an opportunity for dissemination of important and recent results in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, and their applications to Physics, Engineering Sciences, Biology and Economy.
