I am a Full Professor and Chair of Mathematical Sciences at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. Since 1985 I am a member of the Institute of Computer Science at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science. In 2009 I became the successor of Professor Zdzislaw Denkowski on the Chair of Optimization and Control at JUK. In 2014-2017 I have enjoyed an appointment to Visiting Professor at Institute of Mathematics, Lodz University of Technology.

My research interests cover differential equations, nonlinear functional analysis, methods and techniques of nonlinear analysis, calculus of variations, control theory, identification, homogenization, mathematical modeling of physical systems, applications of PDEs to problems of mechanics.

From January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2022 the Jagiellonian University is a Consortium Coordinator of the Project ``Nonsmooth Contact Dynamics CONMECH" supported by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Grant Agreement No 823731. The consortium of ten institutions around the world demonstrates excellence in research and experience in international collaboration in large research projects.
